Velocitas
Elevator Pitch
Velocitas is a 2.5D single player side scrolling precision platformer, where you play as a prisoner and must make use of the magical rune on your hand, to escape from a mysterious underground magical dungeon.

We were given a brief to follow and one of the important sections to add was distinct foreground, mid ground and background layers. I did research on 3D sidescrollers and took the ideas on how to show the different layers in the background. With the game being 3D, this was achived by placing assets either infront or behind where the character moved.

The level was made up of three different sections of difficulty. Easy, medium and hard. This was to ensure the player learnt the mechanics at the beginning of the game before reaching the final stage of the game, the hardest area.
In the design choice of the layout, the game is set in a dungeon and made sence to have the player work their way to the top and escape to the surface. With the short time frame of creating the game, the level was kept simple and have a easy path to follow, while also having the platforms and enemies the main challange.
